The meeting was called to order at 4:00pm.

The meeting minutes were adjusted to include the ruling on the Ad Hoc Committee meeting, and then accepted.

A motion was passed to change the order of the meeting.

Jeff Uchin

I went to a meeting that talked about how to access and understand the data warehouse and virtual counselor to interpret the data successfully.  We can pull up information automatically using data for a needs assessment workshop.  All level 1 and 2 students are already pre-identified on this site.  This will change the way to get successful results.  Flanagan has no AYP's as of yet.

Sharon Shaulis

44% of our students need to be at the appropriate levels.

Chip Osborn

We are looking at the data to incorporate it into next year's plan by gathering data for objectives for next year.  We included the September and December BAT scores.

Sharon Shaulis

We look at our lowest 30%.  We pull our retention data, PSAT scores and testing scores.

Jeff Uchin

This year we used the same test, next year we'll do 50/50 and look at new questions for FCAT exam

Chip Osborn

We showed gains in most areas.

Sharon Shaulis

Our reading scores should be at the 80th percentile.  Right now it is at 70%.  We are zeroing in on our goal.  The teachers are working with the students in FCAT Camp.  Math is 50% or higher.

Carol Sheppard

Before FCAT starting on March 13th, we have FCAT Writes.

Peggy Evans

February 7th is the Writes test.  94% of students can do 3.0, but the standards were raised to 4.0.  Carol, Kim Bass and I are going into every English class to firm up the expository and persuasive writing.  Those who score 4.0 and higher will have their name put in a hat and we will have a drawing for prizes as an incentive.

Sharon Shaulis

Our average score last year was 4.0.

Carol Sheppard

There is now a multiple choice section included.  It doesn't count toward graduation and the school score until next year.  Our SIP Plan does indicate we should be meeting these criteria.

Sharon Shaulis

We have classes opened to anyone who wants to improve their score. (FCAT Camp)

Jeff Uchin

I made a call out to all parents about FCAT Camp and the Writes Exam

Chip Osborn

Let the Academy leaders pass on word to their students.

Carol Sheppard

Mr. Frazier asked us to postpone his report until next month.

Ms. Barnett will report on the Academy Steering Committee concerning the waiver.

Camille Barnett

Not all said no, but we feel that it is too late in the year to implement this program. It would probably be a better idea to start it with the new school year.

Carol Sheppard

We could make it a part of our plan for next year.  We shall try to vote on it before the end of the year, to implement it for next year.

Chip Osborn

There is a more efficient way for ETS to help us implement it.

Carol Sheppard

We will motion that the faculty vote for the waiver for 2006-07 school year at the end of this year. (Moved and seconded)

Gwen Lipscomb

In the SAF meeting, they discussed the boundary hearings would be held in February and March.  You can voice an opinion on the co-teach issue on www.Fla.com.  The calendar for the 2006-07 school year was looked at with the preferences that people had.  August 7th seemed like it would be the most likely student start date, but the parents wanted a later start date. In the Student Code of Conduct, any language pertaining to footwear will be removed.  IPODS will be dealt with the same way cell phones are.  In the Virtual Schools, there are not enough safeguards.  They are not sure that students are taking the exams.  They inquired as to whether the student should come to school for the midterm and final exams, but it was voted down.

Sharon Shaulis

Survey information is going to be used to see which one impacts student achievement.

Carol Sheppard

We are inviting you to our open house in the new technology lab between 3-6pm on February 27th.  Ms. Kaiser invites us and any one else who wants to come.  Ms. Brown is doing a student/ parent writing workshop from 6-8pm on January 25th called "Write Now, Write On!"

Chip Osborn

Customer Survey will be given to students, teachers and parents.  It will be given to the students on February 13th.  The parents will be randomly selected.  We are going back to paper and pencil this year, since last year's online efforts didn't yield good results.  NJROTC attended a competition in Emoryville and placed high and qualified for the National Championships.  The Girls Basketball Team was invited to into the top 8.

Carol Sheppard

Thanks Ms. Williams for the vocabulary services.  We implemented it in 10th Grade classes and the students love it!  The only complaints that we received was that there were not enough and only for 10th Grade.

Sharon Shaulis

Mu Alpha Theta placed 8th in the State.  The whole team is outstanding.  We are very proud of them and are very impressed.  They make a phenomenal team.

Meeting Adjourned at 5:00pm.
