Advancement

One of the many benefits of the NJROTC program is the opportunity to learn how to lead others.  Regardless of what a person wants to do in life, learning leadership skills first hand by working with others (especially peers) is an invaluable tool to have.

Cadets in the NJROTC program earn rank based on individual performance and demonstrated potential.  A range of factors are evaluated by the Naval Science instructors before promoting cadets.  The requirements for each rank vary, and are increasingly more challenging as a Cadet moves up in the program.  Click on the links below to see the specific requirements for promotion to each rank.

When a Cadet desires to be promoted, he/she will print off the appropriate requirements card and work with the Cadet staff to complete each of the requirements. Once the Cadet has successfully accomplished each of the required tasks on the requirements card, he/she will complete a Special Request Chit (located on the Form, Info and Policies page of this website) and submit it to the SNSI, via the Chain of Command.
