About Us     

What is IBE?
 
     The Institute of Business and Entrepreneurship (IBE) is a two-year program for juniors  
     and  seniors. The program provides a fantastic opportunity for students to learn skills
     associated with the business world. IBE educates students about entrepreneurship in  
     addition to the opportunities and responsibilities of America's free enterprise system.
 
     Advantages of the IBE program:
    
       - Connects learning in the classroom to the real world of business.
       - Helps students understand the "big picture" of business.
       - Provides hands-on experience.
       - Strengthens personal and and business skills.
       - Encourages social responsibilities.
 
       IBE Components
 
            Business Mentors
             Communicate with and visit your own individual business mentor on a
              regular basis.
   
            Business Computer Simulations       
              Set up and operate a business and develop a complete business plan.
 
            Community Service Project
              Implement a project that benefits your local community and raises
              money for local community and raises money for local children's
              charities.
 
            Speaker's Bureau
               Attend monthly in-class seminars conducted by local business
               experts.
 
            Success Analysis
                Identify and compare characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
 
            Only in America!  Conference for Broward's Future Leaders
                 Speak with successful entrepreneurs about the risks and rewards
                 of America's free enterprise system.
 
            On-Site Business Visits
                 Visit local businesses as well as out-of-county locations such as
                 Universal Studios and Walt Disney World.
 
            Embrace-a-Child Project
                 Mentor disadvantaged children in you school's neighborhood.
 
            Kangaroo Project
                 Teach elementary school students about free enterprise,
                 goal setting, and planning.
 
            Stock Market Game
                  Compete against other high school students by buying
                  and selling stocks in a stock market simulation.
 
            Scholarships and College Credits
                  Qualify for scholarships such as the Florida Gold Seal Vocational
                  Scholars Award, the Sherman "Red" and Evelyn Crise scholarship,
                  the Ernest Wooler Memorial Scholarship, and a $1,000 scholarship
                  to Nova Southeastern University and earn articulated college credits
                  as either Broward Community College or Nova Southeastern University.
 
            Community Service
                  Earn community service hours.
 
            Special Recognition
                  Participate in Business Professionals of America activities and
                  competitions, the Vision Award Essay Contest, and a special IBE
                  graduation ceremony.
