Community Service Hours Available!
Members of the Falcon Sound can earn community service hours this Saturday by
volunteering at the WGI Fort Lauderdale Regional at Krop High School. Any student
interested should email Mrs. Jones at SJones@mhs.net for a job assignment. Students
should wear their Falcon Sound Event T-shirt. Directions to Krop Hs can be located on
the Flanagan Color Guard Website at www.flanaganhighschool.com/~cguard* students from the Falcon Sound will not be granted free entrance into the
event without volunteering for at least one full shift.

FUND RAISING OPPORTUNITY!!
The Winter Domino's Pizza Card Fundraiser begins on January 26th! Students have
the opportunity to earn money for their accounts. A representative from the
fundraising company will be available for questions at 6:00 PM on January 6th and
January 27th. The Falcon Sound Alliance ran this fund raiser over the summer and
students earned as much as $230 with little effort.

Candy Sale
All outstanding candy balances must be paid in full by January 30th. Student
accounts will be billed for any balance on January 31st. In the future,
student accounts will be billed for the value of the box when the box
is checked out. Upon receipt of the payment, student accounts will
then be credited for the profit. Students will be advised of all outstanding
balances this week. In order to ensure that proper credit is given, please
ensure that payment envelopes are clearly marked with the student's
first AND last name, box number, and amount. I will be at Flanagan
with candy Wednesday the 21st at 6 PM. This allows students in
Wind Orchestra and the Guard to obtain candy. Candy will only be
distributed to students with no outstanding balances.

The Guard is in need of anyone handy with a sewing machine
to pitch in and help hem the practice flags. These are MUCH easier
than the marching season flags. They simply require hemming.
The flags have already been cut out - thanks to Cathy Hargis.
The goal is to get six people to hem six flags. Lise's grandmother has

FLANAGAN HIGH SCHOOL
There was to be a changing of the Scholastic World guard, literally,
and Florida’s newest sensation, Flanagan, put all of its secrets
plainly on the floor to clearly say, “We’re it.” They were; with
the most overwhelming edition of its trademark ensemble and
equipment skills on display.But what Pembroke Pines is able to conjure in its every iteration
is atmosphere, mood, an aura if you will, that permeates and that
congeals solidly, becoming a fifth element. If the decade-long
champion that Flanagan followed was, as I often described it,
the Microsoft of color guard, then what we have here is
Google: young, renegade entrepreneurial types intent on
changing the world..........................................................................................
Flanagan World Guard Wins Gold!
Flanagan World Guard won the Gold Medal at WGI on
Saturday, April 12, 2008. Congrats to all the members
and staff of the World Guard!!!
Scholastic World
Performing on one of the year’s most striking floor designs – an amalgamation
of scribbled “secret” notes and drawings -- Flanagan High School (1st Place, 96.90)
has long been known as one of our activity’s most daring units. Only a few seconds
into the show, the crowd was already screaming in approval. A study in
tension-and-release, this production runs the emotional gamut, with stunning
movement technique, death-defying weapon feats, and one of the most breathtaking
ensemble flag finales to hit the floor this season. Another well deserved screaming
standing ovation for Flanagan brought the Scholastic World competition to a

Orlando Regional Review!
The following was the WGI Review of the World Guards
Performance at the Orlando Regional, March 15th."The buzz was in the air now awaiting the performances of the
world guards. Beginning with the Scholastic World the audience
was eager to welcome Flanagan HS (87.80) a crowd favorite and
gold medal winner. Just missing out on a medal at last year’s
championships and this year continuing their dominance in the
SW division, Flanagan comes out with aggressive high tosses,
fast movement and a visually pleasing show. These talented members are well trained
on all pieces of equipment and a designed show titled, “Secrets”, brings out that talent
even more. Both rifle and saber sections are very strong with some individually talented
performers. Flanagan had one of the best closing flag features of the day that had the
audience on its feet before it ended. This show will be well received in Dayton."..................................................................................................

Pride of the Falcon Sound Scholarship!
Once again, the Falcon Sound Alliance is pleased to offer our senior class the
opportunity for a Falcon Sound Scholarship. Funding for the scholarship is again
made possible from the profits of our annual carnival fundraiser.
Applications for the Falcon Sound Scholorship may be picked up in the Brace
Office beginning March 3rd, 2008, and will be accepted through March 14, 2008.
Late applications will no be accepted. All applications must be turned into the
Flanagan Brace Office, please see Mr. Cruz. The scholarship committee includes
one freshmen parent, one alumni parent, one school administrator, one musician,
and one community leader. (No Board members or senior parents are on the
committee or see any of the applications.) Good luck to all of our seniors. If you

Family Night Pizza Party Money Due!
Friday night Flanagan will host a pizza party for the participating guards.
All members are reminded to bring in their pizza money and turn it into
one of the captains. Dinner will include 2 slices of pizza, chips, a soda

JV Guard Auditions Today!
Do you love to dance? Do you have background in ballet, jazz, gymnastics,
or any other field of artistic movement? Have you seen the half-time show at
any of our schools football games and wanted to participate? If so, the Flanagan
Color Guard is perfect for you! Auditions for the upcoming winter season color
guard will be held beginning November 7th through the 14th from 3-4:30 PM.
Combining the spinning of rifles, sabres, and flags along with many different
styles of dance and body movement, the FHS Color Guard has won many
prestigious awards and are now currently 4th in the world. Heres your chance
to join a successful program at school that will teach you more than just how to
