+ Prerequisite: Coordinator’s approval. Parent permission and interview
Introductory Peer Counseling I will provide students with an understanding of the elements of communication and group processes. Specific content will include, but not be limited to, such topics as listening skills, questioning skills, feedback and paraphrasing skills, non-verbal communication skills, non-judgmental response skills and group cohesiveness. Students will counsel and mediate with their peers.

+ Grade Level 11, 12 Credit 1.0
+ Prerequisite: Peer Counseling II and Coordinator’s approval
Peer Counseling III-IV provides student with the opportunity to develop and implement small and large group presentations on the concern of youth. Topics included will be techniques of conducting resources and coordinating program delivery with school personnel and community agencies.

9999 (05003100) PEER COUNSELING V/VI
+ Grade Level: 12 Credit 1.0
+ Prerequisite: Application/Interview with Peer Counseling Coordinator. Peer Counsel ing I/II and III/IV.
This course is a continuation of the Peer Counseling/ Mentor Program. Students will learn advanced leadership and communication skills and demonstrate the skills of a positive peer model.
