What is the Gold Seal Scholarship?

The Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship program recognizes and rewards excellence for academic achievement and vocational preparation. The program includes an annual award of up to $2,000 per year, a gold seal affixed to the graduate's diploma, a medallion to be worn during commencement exercises and a frameable certificate. This renewable scholarship may be used at a Florida public university, community college, area vocational center or accredited private post-secondary vocational, technical, trade or business school.

A scholarship may be awarded to an initial applicant who:

Meets high school graduation requirements with a 3.0 unweighted grade point average;
Completes a minimum of three vocational credits in a "sequential program of study" with a 3.5 unweighted grade point average in those courses;
Demonstrates mastery of basic skills in reading, writing, and computation;
Demonstrates mastery of employment skills; and
Submits an application during the last year of high school and annually thereafter.

One of the best things about the Florida Gold Seal Scholarship is that there is no set limit on how many students can recieve this grant. As many as qualify can use these funds to continue their education in whatever capacity they wish, university, community college or trade school.
