Early Childhood Education I was developed as the first part of the core. Students will develop competence in child care rules and regulations; learning environments; nutrition education; child abuse and neglect; community needs and resources; guidance methods; communication skills and a balance of family, school and work. Students will participate in group activities, hands on learning; field trips, guest speakers, FCAT project “Baby Think it Over”.

Prerequisite: Early Childhood Education I, teacher approval
This course is second in the core. Students will acquire competence in rules and regulation compliance; observations and recording; inclusion of children and special needs; demonstrate appropriate guidance and discipline techniques; demonstrate and understanding for developmentally-appropriate practices serving young children. Internship 2 days a week at Child Care Center or Elementary School in the community.

This course is third in the core. Students will acquire competence in observation and assessment techniques…Course will assist students in completing their 30/10 hour child care certificate. Internship is 3 days a week at a Child Care Center or Elementary School.

2727(85032141) Early Childhood Education IV Honors

Prerequisite: Early Childhood Education III, teacher approval Note:
Up to nine college credit hours may be earned upon completion of this course. The goal is for the students to earn a Child Development Associates degree certificate in cooperation with Nova Southeastern University. The Senior Practicum (Webquest) will be followed. The presentation will be made at the end of the course. Internship is 5 days a week at a Child Care Center or Elementary School in the community
