Wind Orchestra receives Straight Superiors at State!!!:
The Flanagan Wind Orchestra received Straight Superior Ratings at the FBA State Concert MPA on Monday, April 30th. They received the prestigious OTTO KRAUSHAAR AWARD for only the second time in the history of Flanagan High. Congrats to the Wind Orchestra!

Spring Concert Info.:
The 2007 Spring Concert is set for Monday, May 21st, at 7:00 PM, in the FHS Auditorium. The concert is FREE and will feature the Symphonic Winds, Jazz Combo, Concert Jazz Band, and the Wind Orchestra.

Congratulations to the Concert Jazz Band:
The Flanagan Concert Jazz Band received Straight Superior Ratings at the FBA State Jazz MPA in Miami, Florida on Monday, April 2, 2007. This is the second time this has happened in the history of Flanagan High. Congratulations to all the members of the CJB!

Congratulations to the World Guard:
The Flanagan World Guard traveled to Dayton, Ohio for WGI, April 11 - 15. The World Guard was absolutely amazing and placed 4th. Congratulations to Mr. Broadbent, his Staff, and his incredible Students!

Percussion Recital was a huge success:
The
Percussion Department gave an incredible Recital last Thurs., April19, 2007. Brandon Cruz and his students put together an innovative concert which was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Wind Orchestra State Info.:
Please join us for our "Farewell Performance" on Sunday, April 30th, at 2:00 PM, in the FHS Auditorium. The Flanagan Wind Orchestra and the Hialeah Wind Orchestra will both perform.

2007 FBA District Concert Evaluation Date and Times:
The 2007 Florida Bandmasters Association District Concert Music Performance Assessment will be Thursday, March 15, 2007, for both the Wind Orchestra and Symphonic Winds. The performance schedule is as follows:
SYMPHONIC WINDS:
Warm-Up - 2:00 PM, Perform - 2:30 PM, Sightreading - 3:00 PM

WIND ORCHESTRA
Warm-Up - 7:25 PM, Perform - 7:55 PM, Sightreading - 8:35 PM

The MPA will be held at JP Taravella High School, 10600 Riverside Drive, Coral Springs.

Congratulations to the World Guard for placing 1st, with an 82.6, at the West Palm Beach Regional this weekend. The Flanagan World Guard is currently number 4 in the United States!!!

The Calendar has been updated. The Spring Concert has been moved to Monday, May 21, 2007.

Congratulations to the Concert Jazz Band for earning a SUPERIOR Rating at the 2007 FBA District Jazz MPA!

Marching Band Picture Proofing will be Mon. & Tues., Feb. 26 & 27, in the Music Wing, between the hours of 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Parents must be present to view Pictures.

2007 Falcon Sound Concert Music Camp:
The 2007 Falcon Sound Concert Music Camp will begin Thursday, Feb. 8th at 5:00 PM. The Camp will feature Open Rehearsals of the Flanagan Wind Orchestra and Symphonic Winds, Two Guest Conductors, Master Class Clinicians, and a Free Concert on Sat., Feb. 10th.

The Wind Orchestra will be Guest Conducted by Dr. Roby George, Director of Wind Studies at Florida International University, and the Symphonic Winds will be Guest Conducted by Mr. Michael Beardun, Director of Bands at Port St. Lucie High School.

Please join us for the Concert on Sat., Feb. 10th, at 7:00 PM, in the Flanagan HS Auditorium.

Jazz Band Pre-Evaluation:
The Flanagan Concert Jazz Band will host an informal Pre-Evaluation on Tues., Feb. 13th, at 7:00 PM, in the Flanagan HS Auditorium. The Pre-Evaluation will feature Flanagan, Taravella, and Everglades HS.


Volunteers are needed for our annual
FSA Carnival on Feb. 1-4, 2007.
We'll need help with parking, ticket sales, set up and clean up and concessions. Email Pam Harry at Conchonin2@aol.com for times you can help. This is a huge event and we need a
lot of volunteers to make this go smoothly.

GRAND CHAMPIONS!

Congrats to the Falcon Sound Band & Color Guard for winning Grand Champion at Saturdays Bronco Stampede Marching Classic at Palm Beach Central High School.
The Falcon Sound won every caption except one for a final score of 88.15 to Cooper City's 85.9. Flanagan's score also awarded them the Grand Champion award, an award the school has only received two other times. Way To Go Falcons!

Falcon Sound is headed for States!
The Band and Color Guard will be heading to States next week. Each student is asked to bring in $25.00 to help cover the cost of the buses. In addition, next weeks schedule will be as follows:
Tuesday November 14th - Full band and guard rehearsal
Thursday November 16th - Full band and guard rehearsal (A Guard will begin for non band/guard members)
Saturday Novemebr 18th - 7:30am Students report

THEY DID IT AGAIN!
STRAIGHT SUPERIORS at the FBA Marching Evaluation
this Saturday for the sixth consecutive year!

MISSED FBA? READ ALL ABOUT IT!
COCONUT CREEK, FL - In their second competion of the season, the Falcon Sound Marching Band & Color Guard was awarded straight SUPERIORS at the FBA MARCHING EVALUATION on Saturday night, October 21st, 2006. This marks the 6th consecutive year that the Falcon Sound has received straight Superiors at Broward County's Annual Marching Evaluation.
Performing their new show for 2006, THE BLUEPRINT, the Unit also received Superiors in Percussion, Auxiliary, Marching, General Effect, Drum Major and Music. A total of 40 high school bands from Broward County, Florida competed in the event hosted at Coconut Creek High School.

"I am very proud of our students and instructors; each week we have got better as a performing ensemble and I hope the students plan to continue this trend", said Steve Rivero, Director of Bands for Flanagan High School. "Tonight was the first night our 2006 show came togther as one performing unit!"

The Falcon Sound will next compete in the Bronco Stampede Marching Band Classic at Palm Beach Central High School on November 4th, 2006. The final performance of the 2006 season will be at the 10th Annual Marching Chiefs Invitational on Saturday, November 11th, 2006 at Santaluces High School.

For those attending the garage sale you need to be at the garage sale at 6 AM in the morning. Everybody needs to arrive at this time to set up and be ready when people start showing up. Your spot will be marked with a number, pull along side that number and unload and then move your car so the next person can do the same thing. You need to bring tables, chairs, plastic (in case it rains), food and water for you. Some of you will not be in the shade and need to bring a pop up tent or umbrella to stay out of the sun. There are only 11 shaded spots and there's over 30 people coming. Spots 3-14 are shaded the rest are not. Any questions, give me a call. Thanks! Pam Harry

Corbi Pizza & Cookie Dough Fundraiser
August 17 - September 6, 2006.
This is one of our fall fundraisers that will help student's get a jump start on their band fees. This is a great way to sell dinner & dessert and earn more money! For each pizza/cookie dough kit you sell you'll make $5.75. If you try to sell it as dinner and dessert you'll make $11.50 on one sale! Joe Corbi's catalog now has pizza and cookie dough all in one catalog. All moneys should be collected at the time of order. We have several parents that can tell you that the pizza is great, and both the cheese cakes and cookie dough is fantastic! For each student that sells at least 11 items, you'll received one Chocolate Chunk cookie dough for free. All monies due by September 6.

Rehearse-A-Thon
August 19, 2006 from 10 AM - 6 PM
Each student should ask family, friends and neighbors to sponsor them for a dollar amount for each hour spent rehearsing or one set dollar amount. 100% of this money raised will go into each student's account. Forms have already been passed out. You don't need a form to participated, just collect the money, write your name on the outside of the envelope with Rehearse-A-Thon written on it. Drop it in the black box.

All Color Guard members are required to have a Flanagan Windbreaker for warm-ups!

The Falcon Sound Band and Color Guard would like to welcome our new band director, Steve Rivero. We are excited to have him and are looking forward another great year!

Mini-Band Camp Rehearsal Times Change!

Mini Band Camp will begin at 2pm and end at 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday. Fridays times will be announced by Wednesday.
