Clothing Items Required for Nationals

General: Each cadet that will be traveling to Pensacola to take part in our bid to retain our National Championship title will need to bring enough civilian (e.g. non-NJROTC issued) clothing to last them for 5 days.  Cadets will not have the opportunity to do laundry, so they should plan accordingly.  Appropriate attire, as outlined in the Dress Code and Mess Hall Dress Code links, is required.  In short, this means no torn, tattered or worn-out clothing items, no flip-flops (other than for use in the shower) regardless of what material they are made of, and no clothing with offensive or vulgar writing, pictures or symbols.  The Flanagan Naval Science Instructors will make the final determination on what is proper and what is not.

The weather in Pensacola is expected to be similar to that here in Pembroke Pines; however cadets should pack a light jacket or sweater in case of cooler weather.

Competitor Uniforms: In addition to the above, each cadet that is on a competition team will be required to have the following clothing items BROUGHT TO SCHOOL NO LATER THAN Thursday, 27 Mar 08. In order to ensure that all cadets look the same and therefor maximize our score in the Personnel Inspection portion of the competition, no other brands/styles are acceptable.

1  3-pack of Hanes, tag-less crew neck tee shirts

1  3-pack of black Puritan nylon socks

These items can be purchased at Walmart or other similar stores, however no substitute items will be allowed.  Additionally, the above items must be in the original, unopened package.  It is recommended that you write your cadet’s name on the package wrapper to ensure accountability.

Finally, since the cadets will be spending a large amount of time in PT gear, all cadets will need to have at least two (2) grey Flanagan PT shirts with them. Those needing to purchase an additional shirt can bring $10 to school NO LATER THAN 1 April and buy one.
